Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Last night after it cooled down to 90º, Ivan (my son) ventured out to the pool and when i asked him to jump in, and well damn if he didn’t, dive right into about 6 inch deep water and right into the wood deck.
(COMPLAINT) - sore elbow
(REMEDY) - swim countless laps back and forth

In previous years 7-11, the pioneers of the convienence store, have offered free Slurpees to all that work through their doors on July 7th. Now I’m not certain if they’re doing it again this year, but it’s worth a shot. At least go to the one on 4th and Denny, so you can see the total Kwik-E-Mart revamp and maybe pick up some Krusty-Os or Buzz Cola.
It’s freakin’ hot out. People are barfing, go get a slurpee and cool your bones.
A Staple Can Ruin Your Day

On the way to work I hear a “ka thunk ka thunk” and I pull over to find my tire is flat. Dumb. I hop on a bus, get to work and see a big ass staple that punctured the crap out of my tube. Double dumb!
Bend Your Ears To: Blonde Redhead / 23
Friday, July 6th, 2007

Racking up the track counts on my LastFM page the last few weeks has been Blonde Redhead’s 7th full length album 23. This latest endeavor is their most melodic and accessible album to date, having completely dropped the clanging guitars and digressions into discordant textures of sounds reminiscent of Sonic Youth, focusing instead on weaving rich, warm and complex layers of sound that is pure opulence. Presenting lush guitar riffs, ghostly vocals that hover over a catchy melody and constructing layers of multi-faceted sounds that sparkle like a rough-cut diamond, they have produced a dreamy soundscape, that leaves one wanting to gaze not at their shoes, but up at a magical starry night sky and float away on a vapor trail.
We’re half way into the year, and this is the first album I can say with certainty will be making my Top 10 Album Releases of 2007 List.
