Finally Back.

So I was supposed to get back to town on Sunday evening, but after arriving at the airport we were informed there might not be room on the plane for us since we were using guest passes from Shirley’s sister who’s a flight attendant for Alaska. The plane loaded and we were left in the airport, our bags en route to Seattle and we’re stuck in Jersey. We were told to try again tomorrow but the outlook didn’t look so great. We stayed in the, um, “luxurious” Holiday Inn at the Newark airport for the night and got ready for round 2. We get up at 4:30am and head to the airport and wait for the 7:40am flight. The plane loads and once again we’re not allowed on.

We ask what we can do to get on a plane back home, considering we only have the clothes on our backs and our carry on bags (which only consist of cameras and computers at this point). We were told there wasn’t any room on the evening flight either and our best bet would be to go to Washington D.C. Frustrated and tired we took a cab to the Greyhound station and took a bus down to D.C. Five hours later we got another cab to the airport and finally boarded a flight to get home.

So on Sunday we:

Took a cab from Brooklyn to Penn station
Took a train from Penn station to Newark
Took a trolley thing from Newark station to the airport
Took a cab from Newark airport to the Greyhound station (with a cab driver who was bitching that we wanted to take his cab and not a bus because he was only getting 15 bucks out of the deal)
Took a bus from Newark through Baltimore to Washington D.C.
Took a cab from the Greyhound station in D.C. to Regan Airport
Took a plane from D.C. to Seattle

It was pretty gnarly. All the photos I shot in NY were shot on film so it’ll be a few days for processing and scanning before I can share them.
