21st Century Sharing

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Sharing is caring, and what better way to show you care then by sharing some tunes you’ve been listening to. Muxtape is an online music sharing site that acts a little differently than some of the other players in the game. Users register and are granted a URL based on their username. Each user can upload up to 12 mp3s to have as their “muxtape.” Friends can then subscribe to each others muxtapes via RSS and always see when their friends upload new music that they’re interested in.

Podcast Power!

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

It’s impossible to avoid the hype surrounding “new media” these days. The writers strike, the forecasted death of the newspaper, the general RIAA freakout, is all coming from the fact that the internet is becoming the preferred method to deliver content. And one of the sweetest ways to get that content is through podcasts. I heard about podcasts a long time ago and dabbled a little bit, but sort of forgot about them, until recently. It’s really awesome being able to work and learn things about, well anything. Lately I’ve been really into the 60 Minutes podcast which is just an audio version of their normal television broadcast (this is awesome for me since I don’t have a TV). It’s an awesome way to get news, but it’s also a great way to just absorb information. There are countless software podcasts that actually show you in video how to accomplish different effects or techniques in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and even After Effects.

Here’s a few links to some of my current favorites. 60 Minutes, This Week in Tech, This Week in Photography, KEXP Song of the Day, Vintage Tooncast, Creative Cow After Effects tutorials.
What’s everyone else listening to?

Christmas in January!

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Ooooooooh man, one of my favorite days of the year. Macworld in San Fransisco just started. Gizmodo and Mac Rumors are live blogging the event as we speak, and the video keynote presentation will be on Apple’s site later this afternoon.

What new goodies will the Jobso bring us this year!?
